Chapter 23

Bringing Eleanor into the light

A little while earlier on Starbase 80..

“Ah, you look divine.” Tol cheered and Eleanor smiled bashfully.

“Really?”

“You always look divine, but I knew you would look like a living star in that dress. Utterly heavenly.” Her cheeks flushed and she giggled.

“Tol, stop.”

“Praising you and admiring your beauty? Never.” Tol cooed and leaned down to nuzzle her forehead. “It also pleases me that we shall match today.” Tol took a step back and opened their arms for her to admire them. “We make a pair, don’t we?”

“Yes. We do.” Eleanor and Tol both wore soft silver outfits. Lace with a floral pattern hugged their necks and shoulders with a straight line across their collar bones. The same Lace connected a long flowing cloak to the dress of the softest silver cotton Eleanor could imagine. It framed her sides as well, instead of sleeves, and the cloak was floor-length like the rest of the flowing dress. On her hands, she wore lace gloves to her elbows and her blonde hair was swept up into a french twist at the back. She felt elegant, and also enjoyed that she and Tol matched.

They wore a dress with a different style. It was fitted to their waist with a thick silver sash and opened over their right leg to show silver leggings and wedge boots beneath. Eleanor was grateful for kitten heels, rather than heels as high as Tol was wearing. They didn’t wear lace gloves, but fabric ones that went all the way up to their armpits. On their head, they wore a soft silver hood and a circlet with diamonds shimmering in the middle of their brow.

“And now for the final touch.” Tol lowered a thin silver circlet onto her blonde hair, pinning it in place, and the weight of the diamond that now rested on her brow was significant.

“I feel like a princess.” She blushed and smiled up at Tol.

“Only the best for my starlight.” Tol lifted her chin and nuzzled the scales above their chin with her lips. Since their failed mating in the private pool, they hadn’t tried to do more than nuzzle her. It was difficult to resist their desire to mate with their perfect match, but her happiness meant far more to them. They had to resort to some self-touching to take the edge off, but they thought only of Eleanor as they did, and were happy enough that she was happy here with them. They certainly didn’t want her to have another panic attack or flashback because they rushed this.

Eleanor was theirs, now, and Tol was content to woo her for the rest of their life, if they had to. Slow and steady wins the race, as humans would say.

“You are too kind to me.”

“Never.” They mocked her and tapped her chin. “Now we should leave before we go from being fashionably late, to just being late.”

“I’m a little nervous about this.” Eleanor exhaled deeply and placed her lacy gloved hand into Tol’s. They walked down the stairs side by side and she pressed her other hand to her chest.
